Social Responsibility



The Bank of Moscow is true to the traditions of sponsorship and charity, to support for the social programmes that have created its reputation as one of the leading social responsible companies in the country.

Many socially important initiative and projects in a variety of spheres have developed thanks to support from and participation by the Bank.

Of particular importance for society are projects in the spheres of culture, sport, education and support for socially vulnerable population groups.

Culture

Bolshoi Theatre

For several years running, the Bank has sponsored Bolshoi Theatre seasons. The assistance is vital to this, a world stage leader, for its creative development, support for performances, concerts and theatre evenings, improving training and creative setting of performances.


Moscow City Day

The Bank also participates in Moscow City Day, one of the celebrations best attended and most loved by Muscovites. Every year, over 3 million residents of and visitors to the capital take part in these events. The Bank assists in organising concerts and other events in Moscow’s various administrative districts and also supports city celebrations in the regions.


Spasskaya Tower festival

In 2011, the tradition of supporting city events has been maintained. The Bank sponsored the international Spasskaya Tower festival of military orchestras and creative groups on Moscow’s Red Square.


Denis Matsuyev

The Bank of Moscow is known as a patron for talented young performers. The best known of these is Denis Matsuyev, whom the Bank has been sponsoring for six years now. In the summer of 2010, Bank of Moscow supported concerts by Denis Matsuyev were received with ovations in Moscow, Kazan, Samara, Volgograd and Nizhny Novgorod.


The tradition of support the Russian Orthodox Church is being maintained. The Bank assisted in publication of the multi-volume «Orthodox Encyclopaedia» and has allocated funds for repairing and restoring Moscow churches (in 2010 for repairing the F. Studit Church by Nikitsiye Vorota and the Church of the Dormition of the Theotocos at Putinky).

Sport

The Bank of Moscow promotes Russian sport and attainment of new sporting achievements.

Kremlin Cup

Every year, the Bank is the general partner of the Kremlin Cup International Tennis Tournament. The entire prize fund of this tournament is provided by the Bank. Assistance is given in holding other prestigious tennis tournaments in the capital.


 Basketball club Dynamo Moscow

For the last seven years, the Bank has been supporting the Dynamo — Moscow basketball club. Financial assistance from the Bank has helped the club develop and its sportsmen achieve success. In 2005–2006, the club won the ULEB CUP; in 2006–2007 — it got through to the quarter-finals of the EUROLEAGUE; and in the 2007–2008 season, it won the Bronze Medal in the Russian championship. Since 2009, the club’s players have been regularly called on to play for the Russian national team. In 2010, assistance was extended to both the men’s and the women’s teams and, since 2011, to the women’s team of the club.


Education

Mission fulfilled. Your calling is finance

The Bank of Moscow supports the All-Russia creative competition of prospective students «Mission fulfilled. Your calling is finance», organised by the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. Every year, the most talented pupils from different Russian cities are, on the basis of the competition, granted state-funded places at this prestigious Moscow higher educational institution.


Moscow State Institute of International Relations

Traditionally, twice a year, the Bank awards personal stipends to the best students at leading Russian higher educational establishments — the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (U) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.


Moscow international UN model

It has also become a tradition for the Bank to provide financial support for the most prestigious MGIMO event «Moscow international UN model», where game format and role playing are used to help future students specialising in international relations from different parts of the world delve deep into the principles and forms of the work of the biggest international organisation.


What? Where? When?

Vast numbers of people watch the popular educational and entertaining TV project «What? Where? When?» on Channel 1. In addition to providing financial support for this show, the Bank has set up a special on-line resource for the multitude of fans of this cult TV game — telezriteli.tv. The site promotes education and development of erudition among the young audience and the Bank provides incentives to the players and fans by involving new participants, including increasing numbers of clients and partners loyal to the Bank.


Social projects

Muscovites’ social card

The Bank’s social responsibility is manifested most clearly in the project «Muscovites’ social card» (SKM). In 2001, the Bank launched this project with an ordinary card for storing pensioners’ savings, whereas the SKM can now be used for housing and utility payments, mobile phone services, as a season ticket and a medical insurance policy, while remaining the most rapid and reliable means for receiving pensions, stipends and allowances.

The Bank of Moscow considers it its duty to support socially vulnerable population groups. Timely assistance is provided to Second World War veterans, people with special needs and pensioners. The Bank has promoted organisation of celebrations and assisted the crews of navy vessels of the Black Sea and Northern Fleets.

The Bank was one of the first to respond to the calls for assistance and to provide support for the victims of last year’s forest fires by giving funds to the Government of the Moscow Region for this purpose.

Children

The Bank helps charitable and veterans’ organisations, is a founder of the Charitable Foundations of the Central Federal Area «Support for children an families in difficulties» (set up on the initiative of the Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal Area). Within the scope of joint projects, the Foundation’s booklets are distributed, with proposals for helping children (through branches and subsidiaries of the Bank) and collection of donations has been organised. Using the Bank’s ATMs, any patron may remit funds to support various types of aid («Give children comfort», «Give children a profession», «Give children the joy of sports victory»). Together with the Foundation, the Bank holds exhibitions and fairs of works made by orphans and the proceeds go to maintain children’s homes, boarding schools and as incentives to young talents. Financial assistance is also provided for medical treatment of children.
